Iris Hamilton is the Executive Director of Health Care Management/Clinical Solutions Team at Amerigroup (Elevance).  She has over 30 years of clinical experience with over 24 years of Case Management/Utilization Review experience.  She has been employed at Anthem, Inc. for 18 years in various progressive leadership roles and is a nurse executive for the organization.

She is a registered nurse and holds an undergraduate degree in Respiratory Therapy from Florida A & M University.  She obtained her Nursing degree from Miami Dade College in Miami, FL. She obtained her Masters of Public Administration with a concentration in Healthcare from Troy University. She held several progressive positions throughout her career with a focus on care management, quality, management, patient advocacy and clinical outcome improvement.

 

Most notably, she was very instrumental in advocating for the passing of SB 166 Nurse Licensure Compact which allows Georgia to become a member of the Nurse Compact which improves access to care for Georgians. This bill was signed into Law by Governor Nathan Deal on May 9, 2017. She has designed doula pilots for underserved women of color and remote patient monitoring programs for diabetes and hypertension to improve clinical outcomes which led to 20% reduction in cesarean rates.

She served on the Georgia Nurses Association Board of Directors as the Legislative Director and Public Policy (2017-2019), Emory Legislative Nurse Council (2017-2019), Georgia Nurses Political Action Committee Board Treasurer, March of Dimes Executive Committee for the 2019-current Nurse of the Year Program and American Nurses Association (ANA) Political Action Committee (PAC) (2021-2022). Board of Directors. She matriculated through Nurse In Washington Institute (NIWI) in 2015, American Nursing Advocacy Institute (2018-2019), Congressional Black Caucus Candidate Program (2019), Yale Candidate School for Nurses and Midwives (2020-2021) and serving on the Board of Directors for Gwinnett County Northside Hospital (2022-2025).

Iris is a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated.  She resides in Snellville, Georgia with her husband of 25 years and their son is a recent college graduate.
